Volkswagen Unveils The ID.4, In a move towards electric vehicles, Volkswagen finally announced the launch of the electric car for India in 2024. During their recent brand conference, the company revealed updates to their existing Virtus and Taigun models. But the most exciting news was the official unveiling of the ID.4 electric SUV. Volkswagen in India is getting ready to offer electric cars! They recently showed off the ID.4, which will be their first electric vehicle (EV) in the country. This ID.4 isn’t brand new, it’s been on sale in other parts of the world for a while. It’s built on a platform designed specifically for electric cars by Volkswagen, called the MEB platform. The ID.4 comes in two main versions: one with a single motor and another with dual motors (called the ID.4 GTX).

The single-motor version has a smaller battery (58kWh) while the more powerful dual-motor version gets a bigger battery (77kWh). This is a big step for Volkswagen India as they move away from gasoline-powered cars (also called internal combustion engines or ICE) and towards a more electric future.

Powerful Performance: 0-100 km/h in 6.2 Seconds and 479 km Range

The back engine puts out about 200 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque, while the front one produces around 110 horsepower and 162 Newton-meters. It goes from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.2 seconds, slightly quicker than the Golf GTI by one-tenth of a second. When fully charged, the ID.4 can cover a distance of 479 kilometers according to WLTP standards.

The Volkswagen ID.4 Pro has a stated driving range of 550 km based on the WLTP cycle. Its rear-mounted electric engine produces 282 horsepower and 545 Nm of torque, an increase of 80 horsepower and 235 Nm over the previous model for 2024. Furthermore, the ID.4 Pro 4Motion edition, which features dual electric motors, now has an additional 20 horsepower. Regardless of variation, the ID.4 Pro has a top speed of 180 km/h.
