Honda throws its hat into the ring with the all-new Sahara 300, a capable and exciting machine recently launched in Brazil. While the look of the Sahara 300 is new, it borrows some styling cues from its bigger sibling, the Honda CB500X.

Honda Sahara 300 – Fuel Efficiency and Performance

The Honda Sahara 300 packs a 293cc single-cylinder engine that’s air-cooled. This engine design is simpler than the one found on the XRE 300, which uses a different system called DOHC.  A benefit of the Sahara 300’s engine is that it can run on E100 fuel, a type of ethanol fuel. The engine makes a little more power on ethanol than it does on regular gasoline.  Here’s the breakdown: on ethanol, it gets 25.2 horsepower, and on gasoline, it makes 24.8 horsepower.  The torque output, which is a measure of pulling power, is 27 Nm.

The Honda Sahara 300 is a good choice for adventure riding because it’s fairly light. At 149 kilograms (without rider and luggage), it’s easy to handle. However, the seat height is quite tall, at 859 mm. This is because the Sahara 300 has long-travel suspension, which soaks up bumps and helps you conquer rough terrain. The suspension travel is 245 mm in the front and 225 mm in the back. The Sahara 300 also has large wheels, with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, which are ideal for off-road riding.

Honda caters to diverse adventure needs with three distinct variants of the Sahara 300 available in Brazil: Standard, Rally, and Adventure. While official details regarding the specific differences between the variants are yet to be revealed, educated guesses can be made based on industry trends. The Standard variant is likely the most affordable and stripped-down option, ideal for budget-conscious riders who prioritize basic functionality.

The Rally variant, on the other hand, might introduce a more aggressive aesthetic package, potentially including features like knuckle guards and a higher windscreen for enhanced wind protection. In Brazil, the Honda Sahara 300 comes in three choices: Standard, Rally, and Adventure. The most basic version, the Standard, starts at BRL 27,090. If you want the Rally version, it’s slightly more expensive at BRL 27,690. The most loaded option, the Adventure, is the priciest at BRL 28,650.
