Citroen India has quietly unveiled a new colour choice for the C3 hatchback, the company’s most accessible model in the country.
The Citroen C3 is now available in Cosmo Blue, a colour borrowed from the company’s larger C3 Aircross model line. Meanwhile, the Zesty Orange colour scheme has been removed from the model’s palette. The new Cosmo Blue shade is available in monotone and dual-tone paint schemes, with the latter including a white roof and ORVMs for a great contrast.
Following a recent redesign, the Citroen C3 is now available in four monotone and seven dual-tone colour variants. Other colours offered are Polar White, Platinum Grey, and Steel Grey. The Vibe pack includes orange inserts for the ORVMs, fog lamp housing, body coating on the doors, and rear bumper reflectors.
However, the orange inserts are only available in the Polar White, Platinum Grey, and Steel Grey hues. Instead, the new Cosmo Blue shade features white accents.
Powertrain: Inside the Citroen C3 Engine
The new colour palette is intended to make the Citroen C3 more modern and attractive. The hatchback retains its 1.2-litre normally aspirated petrol engine, which generates 81 horsepower and 115 Nm of maximum torque.
There is also a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 109 horsepower and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Bold and Functional: The Citroen C3 Design
The Citroen C3 stands out with a design that blends bold SUV elements with practical functionality. Its confident stance comes from a high front end and generous curves on the wide wheel arches. The “floating roof” effect, achieved through blacked-out windscreen pillars, adds a touch of playfulness.

We saw the C3 and were delighted by its large design and comfy cabin, but there were certain areas for improvement. The Citroen C3 Aircross just acquired an automatic gearbox, and it remains to be seen whether the C3 hatchback will receive the same, adding convenience to the model.
Citroen C3: Bold Design, Unbeatable Price in India
Citroen’s presence in India is relatively new, starting in 2021. Their journey began with the C5 Aircross SUV, followed by the much-anticipated C3 hatchback in 2022. This C3 is specially designed for emerging markets like India and boasts over 90% local production. Notably, the C3 gained recognition as the “World Urban Car of the Year” in 2022.
Further cementing their commitment, Citroen launched the electric version of the C3, the ë-C3, in February 2023. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Citroen in India, offering both conventional and electric options for the growing automotive market.
Starting at an attractive price of ₹6.16 lakh (ex-showroom), the Citroen C3 makes a compelling case for those seeking a stylish and spacious hatchback. This price applies to the base “Live” variant, while higher trims with additional features can reach up to ₹9.08 lakh.
With several variants available, the C3 caters to a range of budgets and needs. It’s important to note that this is just the ex-showroom price, and the on-road price can vary depending on factors like taxes, insurance, and registration fees.
Citroen C3: Top Competitors and Rivals
The Citroen C3 enters the bustling Indian compact car market, facing off against established players like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. While the C3 boasts a competitive starting price, slightly undercutting some rivals, it also offers a different value proposition.
Buyers seeking a spacious and comfortable ride with a unique design might find the Citroen appealing. However, those prioritizing extensive feature lists and powerful engines may find the competition more tempting. Ultimately, the choice between the C3 and its rivals comes down to individual priorities and preferences.
